Torah Repair and Maintenance

Torah scrolls, like all of us, show signs of aging after years of use.

This is normal. Scrolls are not museum pieces meant to be stored in the back closet. They are sacred ritual objects – functional in nature. Perhaps you have noticed dirt, rips, tears, seams that have come apart, or flaking letters. Or perhaps you aren’t sure what kind of shape your scroll is in, and you want an expert to take a look. I can help.

Together, we can bring your scrolls to good working condition and properly maintain them so that they have a long, healthy life as part of your community. As someone trained and experienced in all aspects of writing and repair, your scrolls are in good hands. The communities I work with have also expressed deep appreciation for engaging someone that not only serves, but is part of the progressive Jewish world. I share and respect your values and your Jewish practices, across the denominational spectrum.

I primarily serve congregations in the northeast and tri-state areas, but I consult with and offer workshops on maintenance and repair to communities everywhere. Click here to read about my Torah Maintenance 101 workshop.

Julie is an amazing teacher. She engaged the entire community. The younger children loved getting up close with the Torah. The adults were fascinated by her presentation and there was ample time for discussion and questions. I would highly recommend Julie’s sessions; she is one of the best teachers we have had.
